It was a night of stardom, gratitude and a whole lotta fun at the 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards. From the glitzy red carpet, the candid moments when the stars interacted in the audience and on stage, to the adorable camaraderie of the stars as they mingled backstage, we bring you the best and the most memorable moments from the night, in case you missed them...
Salman Khan, usually, is limelight shy but this time he strode the Red Carpet beaming a 1000 watt smile. He answered every question posed by the media and gave ample time to the paparazzi. He chanced upon the Bachchans at the Red Carpet, said a quick ‘Hi’ and moved on.
Another person who caught up with the Bachchans at the Red Carpet was Deepika Padukone, who arrived with her family in tow. She walked up to Amitabh Bachchan, who chivalrously offered that she walk ahead of him. Of course, she politely declined. They hugged warmly and even posed together.
Ranveer Singh was his usual chirpy self. He regaled the media with his dialogue from Bajirao Mastani, did the Vaat lavli step and was the sunshine boy.
Varun Dhawan too emulated Ranveer’s joi de vivre and said he was happy to be nominated.
Another hunky lad, Arjun Kapoor, was also a hot favourite. Parineeti looked smoking hot with her tantalising neckline.
Jacqueline Fernandez was acing her pouty pose when Mika Singh joined her on the Red Carpet. She was maha excited about her first Filmfare performance and couldn’t contain the nervousness while describing the heady feeling.
Fawad Khan’s wife, Sadaf, waited patiently as fans flocked her hot hubby for selfies and journos for bytes. He made sure they had their fill before escorting his ladylove inside.
Kabir Khan and Mini Mathur were gung ho about taking a Red Carpet selfie. In fact, Mini ‘directed’ hubby Kabir on how to get the best shot while he patiently held the accessory and clicked away.
Shah Rukh Khan returned to host the Filmfare after a break of three years and the proceedings were undeniably richer by his impromptu humour and because of the warmth and camaraderie he shares with the fraternity.
The skits that the King Khan did with Kapil Sharma, Irrfan, Alia Bhatt, Sonu Sood and Sanjay Mishra were a hoot too. He does reserve his best for the Filmfare Awards and makes the event his own. His energy and mojo is the stuff that superstars are made of.
Amitabh Bachchan enjoyed the show so much that he asked the photobugs buzzing around him not to distract him. And because it was Bachchan saab they complied. What got the Bachchans rolling in the aisles was the tongue-in-cheek interaction between Shah Rukh Khan and Irrfan. Through the show industry denizens made a beeline to the Bachchans. Everyone from Ranveer Singh to Sanjay Leela Bhansali touched the Big B’s feet. He clearly is the patriarch of the industry.
When Gulshan Devaiah spotted Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte looking for their seats, he lent a helping hand. Also, protective about wife Kalliroi Tziafeta, he held her hand throughout.
Our LTA winner Moushumi Chatterjee was glowing in a golden saree. The chirpy actor was bubbling with joy.
After winning the awards, both Ranveer and Deepika wanted to rush home and party but professionals that they are, they made sure we shot them for the magazine before zooming off. A bunch of swooning fans gathered backstage while we were shooting the glowing couple. But they kept their cool and smiled throughout the session.
When Huma met Parineeti Chopra, they formed a mutual admiration society. They gushed over each other’s new svelte forms and someone was overheard commenting, “Hey they’ve turned into new people!”
Rhea Chakraborty, Manish malhotra, Raveena Tandon, Rana Daggubati, Neha Dhupia, Sophie Choudry and Shriya Saran
Dapper filmmaker Karan Johar was impressive as ever on the podium and his comic timing in tandem with funnyman Kapil Sharma was spot on. Karan took time off from his onstage duties to bond with Deepika and Ranveer after they won their awards.
