Vidya Balan is one of the most sought after actors in the industry. A master of her craft and driven by exceptional content, Vidya’s journey in Bollywood is one to take inspiration from. She’s got a repertoire of characters that only she can pull off on the big screen. Be it the promiscuous lead in The Dirty Picture, the vindictive Vidya in Kahaani, or the simple woman with big dreams in Tumhari Sulu, Vidya is an actor par excellence.
Now, she’s back with yet another cracker with Sherni. Playing a forest officer in the film, Sherni’s trailer has intrigued its audiences for the novelty of the subject and Vidya’s act in the film. She’s looking to strike a balance between nature and man while the film draws a subtle metaphor between the tigress on the loose and Vidya’s character trying to break through the shackles of stereotypes in society.
Talking about what she learnt with the film, Vidya spoke to editor Jitesh Pillaai on her process to get into the skin of the character. She spoke of how she is a city girl who loves nature but with Sherni, she is now ready to embrace the wild. Vidya shared that during the first schedule of the film, she stayed in tents and that was a new experience for her, “You’re in your most natural state when you’re in the wild.”
Further adding on how being out in nature changed her perspective towards life, Vidya said, “There’s no need to be anyone but who you are. You’re one with nature. I found that very fascinating. It was life changing. Nature is more than you. You realise you’re minuscule and your problems are not even a dot.”
With all the lessons from the wild and a brilliant film out now, Vidya has got all eyes on her for Sherni that releases today on Amazon Prime Video.
