Cinema is a mass medium but this trend is slowly dying. Director Kaushik Ganguly brought this poignant fact to life in a film revolving around old school idea of cinema. It also brought home the fact how piracy is slowly killing the industry. Winner
One of the biggest stars of Bengali cinema has been fast reinventing and excelling in recent past. His performance in Shankhachil is a testament to his timeless talent. As a desperate and earnest father, his pitch perfect performance tugged at your heart strings. One of his career's best performances, his efforts in this tear jerker were simply sensational. Winner
Swastika had two distinct tracks in Shaheb Bibi and Golaam. On one hand she was a domestic woman, busy with the chores of her household. And then effortlesly, the character transforms into a seductive Housewives' Club member. Swastika's performance went through this vivid range of drama and emotions with flawless ease. This was definitely one of the best performances of her career. Winner
Talented theatre actor Anirban played Bishan, a man who was sexually exploited as a child. It would have been difficult to play such a character but Anirban masterfully pulled it off. Winner
Ritwick Chakrabarty plays Javed, the taxi driver who falls in love with a girl high above his station in life but wins her over with his sass and charm. His is a screen-stealer of a role alright! Winner
Aparajita Auddy was a loving mother, a dutiful wife who has the strength to accept her husband's past and move forward in Praktan. She filled her performance with charm and an infectious joy, despite the fact that her past wasn't all that smooth. The seasoned actress dispalyed phenomenal grace in this loveable role. Winner
It's an album which dwells on the different aspects of love - from attraction, companionship and even loss. A finely balanced OST that does full justice to the theme of the film. Winner
It's a soulful number that takes you down memory lane and makes you remember past loves. Winner
This soulful and sombre number had some great lyrics and a fabulous composition by Anupam Roy. No surprises then, that a seasoned vocalist like Nachiketa Chakraborty rendered such a powerful track with some great emotions. Winner
Rabindra Sangeet singer Iman Chakraborty belted out an absolute gem in Tumi Jake Bhalobaso from Praktan. The lady's singing was the perfect complement to the gentle arrangements of composer Anupam Roy. The use of guitars and keys added such soothing feeling to Iman's velvet voice. Winner
