Here's the complete winners list of 63rd JIO Filmfare Awards 2018:

Main Award Winners

Best Film - Hindi Medium

Hindi Medium

So you want to educate your child in the best possible school is it and have tried every means but the institute isn’t ready to budge. And what if you get to know a loophole? Wouldn’t you do jugaad and exploit it? This was the satirical premise of Hindi Medium and the apt subject matter plus great ensemble performances were just what the doctor ordered for the audience.

Critics Best Film - Newton

Newton

A zealous elections officer is faced with a dilemma while told to conduct elections in a tribal territory. It’s his insistence on following the straight and narrow path that leads to all sorts of misadventures.

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) - Irrfan Khan

Movie - Hindi Medium

Irrfan Khan

Sometimes, the love of your child makes you do weird things, even change your identity. That was the truth portrayed by Irrfan in his true-to-life performance in Hindi Medium. He was at his mercurial best, changing from one persona to another in the blink of an eye and made it all seem super easy.

Critics Best Actor In A Leading Role (Male) - Rajkumar Rao

Movie - Trapped

Rajkumar Rao

It’s hard to get lost in the urban jungle but Rajkummar Rao got trapped in one such scenario where he’s locked inside a flat on the top floor with no means of escape left to him. His mood shifts in such a situation were relatable and hence no wonder the critics liked his gritty performance.

Best Actor In A Leading Role (Female) - Vidya Balan

Movie - Tumhari Sulu

Vidya Balan

Tumhari Sulu wasn’t just the film hit starved audiences were waiting for in 2017, it was also the film Vidya needed badly to reclaim her position at the top of the marquee. As usual her performance was top notch. But the film too had that nonchalant spirit that fit perfectly with Vidya’s natural flair.

Critics Best Actress - Zaira Wasim

Movie - Secret Superstar

Zaira Wasim

It’s rare to see such depth and finesse in the performance of a 17-year-old. Yet, Zaira Wasim’s performance in Secret Superstar looked like we were watching some singer belt out awesome songs on stage, in studios and on YouTube. It was the sort of performance that gives you gooseflesh and makes you feel good about the future of Hindi cinema.

Best Director - Ashwini Iyer Tiwari

Movie - Bareilly Ki Barfi

Ashwini Iyer Tiwari

Ashwini Iyer Tiwari has hit the purple patch in her career with her first two films. While Nil Battey Sannata announced her storytelling talents to the world, Bareilly Ki Barfi didn’t just affirm that fact, it also established Ashwiny as a compelling commercial filmmaker.

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Male) - Rajkummar Rao

Movie - Bareilly Ki Barfi

Rajkummar Rao

Hindi cinema could not have had a good 2017 without Rajkummar Rao. His performances as a lead actor were stupendous, but even when he was playing second fiddle, Rajkummar had the spotlight. His performance in Bareilly Ki Barfi embodied the spirit of the film.

Best Actor In A Supporting Role (Female) - Meher Vij

Movie - Secret Superstar

Meher Vij

She played the supporting mother that every child with a special talent yearns for. Yes, all mothers are supportive of their children but some have to go that extra mile to make sure their child realises her dreams. Meher channelized the spirit of Tiger moms for the role and came on tops.

Best Music Album - Pritam

Movie - Jagga Jasoos

Pritam

The film showcased Ranbir Kapoor as a boy detective and the songs reflected that. Be it Ullu ka pattha, Galti se mistake, Jhumritalaiya or Khana khaake, they were funky, frothy and full of fun. The film was also a proper musical and Pritam composed some 29 songs more which were sewn into the film’s narrative.

Best Lyrics - Amitabh Bhattacharya

Movie - Jagga Jasoos

Song - Galti Se Mistake

Amitabh Bhattacharya

Amitabh Bhattacharya is the true-blue wordsmith of Hindi cinema right now. His creative flair is at its peak and it showed the most in the songs of Jagga Jasoos. Galti se mistake was the biggest hit from this excellent album, and the quirky lyrics were just too good.

Best Playback Singer (Male) - Arijit Singh

Movie - Badrinath Ki Dulhania

Song - Roke na ruke naina

Arijit Singh

Arijit Singh is the undisputed king of playback singing and of his most soulful hits of the year was Roke na ruke naina from Badrinath Ki Dulhania. This solo number had the trademark Arijit goodness along with a variety of singing tricks and technique.

Best Playback Singer (Female) - Meghna Mishra

Movie - Secret Superstar

Song - Nachdi Phira

Meghna Mishra

The film was all about rising above your angst and the song brought out that feeling with a vengeance. It must be déjà vu for Meghna, who is a teenager herself and her own journey resonates so much with the film’s subject matter. It was a complex song, full of complexity and verve but Meghna brought out all the nuances like a veteran.
