Tanhaji director Om Raut says he considers Ajay Devgn as his elder brother


Ajay Devgn turns a year older today and the actor has been showered with love and wishes on the internet from his die-hard fans. The talented actor keeps entertaining and surprising us with his performances over the decades and the man always lets his performances do the talking.

Today on his birthday, Bombay Times got a chance to speak to Om Raut and talk to him about the bond he shares with his actor. Om Raut and Ajay Devgn worked together in Tanhaji – The Unsung Warrior in 2020 and the film proved to be the biggest blockbuster of the year. Om Raut is all praise for Mr Devgn and on his birthday he shared some great shooting memories with the superstar. Om Raut said, “I remember the first time I met Ajay Devgn sir for the narration of Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The way he made me feel extremely comfortable on our very first meeting speaks volumes about him, and the eventual relationship that blossomed from that point.”


The director further states that the actor became an elder brother to him and he stood besides him like a rock, “He became the elder brother I never had. He stood by me like a rock - he supported my dream not just as an actor but also as a producer who trusted my ability and the story that I was keen to narrate. There’s a reason he is called ‘Boss’.”

Om Raut even said that Mr Devgn is a man with tremendous intensity, integrity and passion for cinema. He even shared some heartfelt gratitude to the actor, “Thanks to Ajay sir, I had an opportunity to narrate a story the way I saw fit, and the public showed acceptance for it. It opened more doors for me. On the occasion of his birthday, I just pray that all his wishes come true, I want to see him soaring higher and higher.” Isn’t that so sweet.


Om Raut bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Director for Tanhaji. He is currently shooting for his next magnum opus titled Adipurush and the director has managed to rope in Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh for his adaptation of Ramayana on the big screen.
