Karan Johar is the modern age movie moghul. From Kuch Kuch Hota Hai to Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, his films have defined the changing phases of romance in Indian cinema. He's explored everything from college romance to contemporary marriages and a healthy dose of human spirit, as well as the spunk of homosexuality. He's grown up with the movies as generation X and Y have grown up with his films. And he hasn't just limited himself to directing films but has made a name for himself as a talk show host and a celebrity judge and has also come up with a clothing line as well, among other things.

Nikhil Advani

Film Maker

Nikkhil Advani had a dream start to his filmmaking career with Kal Ho Naa Ho. Over the years he's compiled quite the eclectic list of films. Onir

Onir

Film Maker

Over the years Onir has carved quite the niche for himself in both art film circuits and commercial cinema. While his deeply sensitive and authentically emotional films aren’t quite middle-of-the-road they do achieve a rare balance between artistic raves and commercial success. My Brother Nikhil, Sorry Bhai, Bas Ek Pal and I Am have won several international as well as Indian honours. Onir is also one of the pioneer filmmakers to turn to short film production.

Shakun Batra

Shakun Batra

Film Maker

A young and industrious filmmaker Shakun Batra has the pulse of the Indian youth. His family drama Kapoor & Sons was undoubtedly one of the best feature films of 2016.
