Nominations for 67thWolf777news Filmfare Awards 2022 - Best Music Album
Best Music Album - A R Rahman
The music album of Atrangi Re is upbeat, quirky, full of zing. Songs like Garda, Chakka chak, Tere rang, Little little, Tumhein mohabbat, Rait zara si and Toofan si kudi, are mini capsules of sorts containing the soul of the film and each tell a facet of its tale and contributes to the narrative.
Best Music Album - A R Rahman
Param sundari was the standout song of the album. Rahman used to experiment with hook words earlier in his career and he has shown here that he hasn’t forgotten the formula. Shreya Ghoshal has done ample justice to the song through her rendition. Yaane yaane is an Arabic-sounding number sung with a lot of verve by Rakshita Suresh. It’s certainly something different from Rahman’s repertoire. Phuljhadiyo sung by ever dependable Shilpa Rao is a folk-based ballad where Rahman’s melodic instrumentation comes into its own.
Best Music Album - Amaal Mallik
Saina’s music album is a labour of love for Amaal Mallik. He reportedly worked on close to four years on the project and the results speak for themselves. The film’s makers have bucked the trend of taking multiple music directors and have trusted Amaal with the entire OST. The end product is a booming album that teems with soaring anthems, emotional ditties and robust instrumental creations.
Best Music Album - Amit Trivedi
Amit Trivedi hasn’t experimented much, as he’s known to do, concentrating on providing baseline melody instead in the album. Dil melt karda, sung by Navraj Hans and Nikhita Gandhi is a peppy Punjabi number with some funky lyrics by Varun Grover. Phisal jaa tu, sung by Abhijeet Srivastava, is the quintessential Amit Trivedi number. It's an earworm alright but the tune is something we’ve heard before.
Best Music Album - Sachin-jigar
The film is set in Punjab so naturally it's full of peppy Punjabi numbers. While most of them, like Tumbe te zumba, Kheench te nach and the title song are playful indeed, there are also emotional numbers like Kalle kalle and Maafi included in the album. All-in-all, it’s an inspired effort by composer duo Sachin-Jigar.
Best Music Album - Tanishk Bagchi, B Praak, Jaani, Jasleen Royal, Javed-mohsin And Vikram Montrose
Shershaah has romantic songs depicting the romance between the Captain Vikram Batra and his girlfriend Dimple Cheema. B Praak has recreated his 2017 number Mann bharyyya and it's in keeping with the theme of separation in the film. Raataan lambiyan, with lyrics and music by Tanishk Bagchi and vocals by Jubin Nautiyal and Asees Kaur is the pick of the lot, evoking the first flush of love. Ranjha, composed by Jasleen Royal and sung by B Praak and Jasleen is another popular number from the film.
