About FIlmfare short film awards

The Filmfare Short Film Awards aims to give a platform to filmmakers who seek to make a name for themselves in the competitive world of making short films. The Platform will showcase short films, which have a running time of 20 minutes or less, made by aspiring as well as established filmmakers.

overview

Ever since its inception in 1954, the Black Lady has been awarded to those who have added unique value to the Indian film industry. Cinema titans like Bimal Roy, Yash Chopra, Amitabh Bahchan, Nutan, Dev Anand, Naseeruddin Shah and Kamal Haasan have been awarded this immense honour of taking the Filmfare Award home. And now, you could chalk your name down in history alongside these greats if you truly believe you have what it takes.

Once a staple of the festival circuit, short films have finally got their due with the advent of the internet and streaming platforms. Films that earned plaudits amongst select critics and cinema enthusiasts but were quickly forgotten due to their limited reach, have now managed to influence popular culture and discussion as much as feature films have. A short film is as much a challenge as a feature film or a running series. The filmmaker must get his point across and explore the wide range of human emotions while battling the clock. To be able to tell a story - and tell it well - within 20 minutes is a skill that not many possess. And those that do possess this skill are given the opportunity to win a Filmfare Award.

The format is simple. Shoot your film, send it to us, be judged by an illustrious jury and if the fates so decide, you take the Black Lady home with you. May the odds be ever in your favour!
